I have been living in Crossway Community for almost two years. I have now moved out and moved on with my life. During my years living at Crossway Community I had a stalker, he is a maintenance man that was the spy puppet for the CEO of Crossway Community and the Life Skills Coordinator for the Family Leadership Academy. At first I would get looks from him, then he crossed the line by inappropriately touching me. I quickly reported this to an FLA staff member and was told that I must be mistaken and not to talk bad about an employee. I was outraged from her response. A staff member just sexually harassed me and the other staff member just shrugged her shoulders and told me she would talk to him. I told the FLA staff members that I will report him to the police because I did not feel safe anymore since he had access to my apartment. The FLA staff told me to think about what I will do, and that my decision could effect my eligibility of living at Crossway Community if I took it that far. I went home and cried because, I was not only violated, but the very same people that are suppose to help me just threatened me to keep quiet about the incident. Time passed and he would smile and wink at me in the hallway, as if he knew he had just gotten away with it. I was upset when I found out that he was working with kids downstairs especially when I found out there had been four CPS allegations against him for sexually fondling young students (there is proof of this in writing). I also saw him inappropriately put his hands on a young resident, I again questioned this to the staff, and I was told to stop harassing him. I was outraged again. My question was this, why do they protect this man so much? I got my answer later when women started to talk and told me that he was being paid to spy on the women that live here. He also told some of the women that live at Crossway, that he had so much dirt on the CEO and the organization that they kept him happy to keep him quiet. I also found out that other women(residents) were also sexually harassed by him and had made a police report against him, but was brushed off because he was defended by an ex cop that is now the FLA life skills coordinator. Many women, staff and teachers at Crossway that have complained to the FLA team about the maintenance man are brushed off each time and are told we need to stop complaining. I want to make a note to all, that this year a staff was suspended from Crossway Community after she and the maintenance man got into a verbal fight. What was the fight about? The maintenance man had sexually touched her ,(the staff,ex-teacher), which offended her, and they got into a verbal argument with him. The outcome was that the CEO suspended her for a week from work with no pay. I will also say that one of the FLA team members told me that the women who complain about him are women who don't pay their bills. I was appalled to hear an ex cop make a statement like that.
So if that is the case, my other question is, why did the CEO suspend the staff/ex-teacher for being sexually harassed by the maintenance man? She is not a resident. Looks to me like they are trying to protect this man. WOW, he must have a lot of dirt on this Nonprofit organization.
